It's one thing if a bunch of kids, teenagers and adults all choose to soak up the sun with no clothes on.This contest is a cruel joke. Among the people observing that this kid has reached puberty is a fully-clothed woman in her 30s, the one in the hat.

Mal, I see what you're saying, but it's not me that gets "a sick kick" out of this. I'm just saying what I appear to be observing. If nudism isn't supposed to be about being judged or compared to others, why have people stand on a stage naked and identified by numbers? Notice that "#6" holding her number placard strategically?

This looks like Little House on The Prairie. What happened? Did Walnut Grove implement the shameful canings of Singapore? I'm sorry, nudist beauty pageants seem like a contradiction of the concept that naturist societies reject the idea that the naked human form should be judged by competitive standards and when you involve kids who are going through puberty, it seems like a ritualized form of humiliation.

Hey, look, there's the sarong she was wearing as the last vestige of her blushing modesty. Shy introverted teenage girls need help coming out of their shells. Some people recommend group dating. Others have suggested church youth-group field trips. This poor kid has been pried out of her shell with an oyster knife. Next time your teen is experiencing awkwardness in social settings, you might not want to have her trade her clothes for a microphone. Just a thought.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I get a "sick kick out of the ritual humiliation of children". No "child" has breasts like hers.

Nudist teenagers are statistically less likely to get into drugs or to get (a girl) pregnant. Wouldn't you agree that part of it is that teenagers who spend part of each summer vacation without any clothes on are by definition more easily controlled. The two older kids in this photo probably never got in trouble for worse than a speeding ticket, but from the looks on their faces, this isn't their proudest moment. I had a step brother and step sister growing up and I can't ever recall the three of us taking our clothes off, holding hands and walking so fast that our specific gender differences jiggled and bounced.

What is it with you and this sick kick you get out of the ritual humiliation of children?
